Peru Update
Dear Friend
of Peru Children,
Thank you so
much for faithfully supporting our missions in Chiclayo, Peru.
Much has happened during the years we have ministered there. We
have witnessed more than 2000 people saved and discipled. Most
of the new believers are now actively involved in local
churches. A new church was birthed. And, close to our hearts,
are the more than 100 children who have been able to go to
school, many of them for the first time. We will never forget
the wide eyes of the children who received the first pair of
shoes they ever owned and the joy on the faces when they went to
a swimming pool party. Lives have been changed and new hope has
been given to many. You have been a vital part of everything
God has done there during the years He has given us.
We have come
to a hard decision. Having earnestly sought the Lord about the
ministry, He has led us to discontinue the work in Chiclayo,
Peru. These are hard economic times for many people and some of
our ministry supporters have been hit hard. For the last year
and a half our expenses have exceeded our income. What reserves
we had to cover the difference are gone. This has been a very
hard decision because we have grown to love the people – the
pastors and their families, the sponsored children, all have
become a permanent part of us. We have had to give them to the
Lord now and trust Him to meet their needs in other ways. The
current school year in Peru ends this month of December. Our
support for the Chiclayo children and pastors will end this
month. We are writing to you because of your support for the
mission there.
We want to
ask you to consider transferring your support to ministry in the
Philippines. Your support is very much needed there. We have
549 sponsored children and 26 pastors who care for them. Last
year, we had 633 sponsored children and 29 pastors. For the
first time since we began, we were not able to increase the
number of sponsored children for this school year. Every pastor
has a waiting list of children who need help. You can make a
big difference in the life of one or more of these children.
We need your
support to continue ministry in the Philippines and hope you
will join us in the call to transform the nation – one child at
a time. For more about the Philippine ministry, you can go to
Missions and
Kathy's Children Stories on our website.
God bless
you,

PS: Some
became supporters when we sent Rebekah Bohlin, our
granddaughter, to Chiclayo to minister. You may know already
that she has married a wonderful Peruvian man. They are working
on making a move to Texas to live here for a time, while they
seek the Lord about their future. Those who know Rebekah
rejoice with her and us and are praying for her and her husband,
Dennis, to know God’s direction in their lives.

Coming to Peru

DATELINE CHICLAYO, PERU:
Report from Our Missionary
in Chiclayo, Peru-- Rebekah Bohlin
September 2007:
Thank you so much for your prayer support
during July and August! I have been able to see the fruit of
your prayers!
We have seen the Lord’s mighty hand move
across Chiclayo, Peru. From the time that my Grandfather Ras
Robinson left here in June, we have had discipleship classes
with the newly converted people of Chiclayo. We encouraged them
to take the step of faith and receive a water baptism at the end
the discipleship classes. We had a Uniting Service, where all of
the newly converted Christians came together to see that they
were not alone in their new decision. I want to tell you that
our God is an awesome God! We had people at that service that
had no intention of being baptized but the Lord touched their
hearts. There were more than 50 people from five different
churches and denominations gathered for a LARGE UNITED Baptism
service. It was a blessing to be able to experience the first
ever inter-denominational baptism in Chiclayo Peru.
My Grandmother, Beverly Robinson, Director
of Peruvian Missions, was present for the baptismal service and
was in Chiclayo for most of the month of August. During her stay
here, we launched another Rice Evangelism thrust. This time
instead of five churches we are working with eight churches. By
translating with my grandmother and sharing the plan of
salvation, we were able to see 485 people make decisions to give
their lives to the Lord. HOW GOOD IS HE? During this time she
was also able to visit the people who had just received their
water baptism. She spoke on “Living Your Life in Abundance”.
These three classes were very well accepted and cherished among
the newly converted Christians.
Please continue to pray for the people who
are learning what it REALLY means to be a Christian. They need
your prayers just as I do. They now have a big decision to
make. This requires a big step of faith to take a stand in
front of their family and peers to be baptized. Please pray that
the Lord touches their hearts and puts the desire for water
baptism as a sign to those who need the Lord.
Thank you so much for continuing to support
me through Fullness in Christ Ministries. May the Lord bless you
and your family in ways that you have never experienced before.

God Bless You,

CHICLAYO, PERU REPORT -- 2006
What We Found and What God Did
I have caught my breath a bit
after arriving back home from Chiclayo. It was a difficult but
extraordinarily rewarding trip. May I share with you?
August 28 through September 8,
we took a team of five to Chiclayo, Peru. God’s provision,
grace and protection were amazing. Here are some highlights of
ministry in Chiclayo. ALL GLORY TO GOD!
• We saw around 450 souls
saved with local pastors standing by to begin the converted
souls on a journey into discipleship for Christ.
• We
gave away 10,000 kilos of rice to needy children and families.
In four suburban neighborhoods, we fed poor families and were
able to pray with most of them, including the children. Below
is a photo taken in front of the church at Hope of the Cross
Community. Long time missionary to Peru Gladys Enlow is giving
bags of rice to the residents. Click on the photo to enlarge it.
More Peru Mission Trip photos can be
found at
PERU PHOTOS.
• We were on local and
national television and radio three times (including a Sunday
morning worship service). God opened the door to local and
national television and radio where we cast the vision of
transformation for the city of Chiclayo and the nation of Peru.
He even allowed us to preach in the huge church that owns the
television and radio station. Thus we were on television
on Sunday broadcasting to the entire city of Chiclayo and
beyond!
• We touched and strengthened at least a dozen local churches.
Local pastors were very friendly and open to our ministry. They
assisted us at every turn.
• We conducted an evangelistic concert one Friday night in
downtown Chiclayo.
Fulfilling A Dream
Chiclayo was a great mystery springing forth from a
dream I had three years ago. In that dream, I saw the map of a
city with a strange name -- “Chiclayo.” Upon looking up the
name in an encyclopedia, I found it to be a Peruvian city north
of Lima on the Pacific coast. The Lord began to speak to me
about the city and I knew I would eventually go there. Though I
knew no one in the city, I knew God had put it on my heart. I
knew I was to go even if I went alone just to pray and
intercede. God gave me an awesome team of four to go with me
and He went before us preparing the way in the hearts of the
people to receive us and the message of freedom God gave us for
the city. We met some awesome Christian brothers and sisters in
Chiclayo who received us warmly and opened doors for ministry.
Where It All Began
As a young man I longed for what I called “hands on”
foreign mission experiences. Through the years, our churches
sent missionaries into the white harvests of souls with support
from our church, and others, tithing to missions work. These
missionaries brought back reports of what God had done. I
longed to be able to do what they did.
One of my “hands on” foreign
missions adventures was only seven years ago when my wife Bev
and I accompanied two missionaries to Peru. We traveled within
Peru to the cities of Lima, Tarapoto, Cajamarca, Yurimaguas,
Cusco, Chinchero and Urabamba. We saw several hundred saved and
the churches strengthened.
The next year I accompanied a
medical team to Peru offering dental, medical and spiritual care
for all who desired the help. Bev went one more time with some
eager missions volunteers to the edge of the Amazon Basin to
minister to tribal peoples.
What We Found in
Chiclayo
Chiclayo is known as the “city of death.” This is
manifested by large flocks of buzzards continuously circling the
city and roosting primarily on the Catholic Church and the city
hall and municipal buildings downtown. The buzzards feed off
the city garbage strewn along the city’s boulevard streets.
It is also known as one of the
witchcraft centers of the world with witches and warlocks in
open practice. Truly, it was amazing to see all this.
Idolatry of ancient gods and
lords is rampant with signs, posters and monuments everywhere
honoring the wicked, powerful and ancient gods of their glorious
past as a city and nation.
Poverty among children and
families caught our attention and God led us to feed as many of
them as funds and time allowed.
What Now?
We have learned from ministry in the Philippines that
providing food is an excellent way to open the door to people’s
hearts so the Gospel can be received. Providing food is also a
way to motivate people to come for Bible Study where they learn
how to make Jesus Lord of their lives. We followed the example
of Jesus and preached to the people and then provided food.
Ministry At Hope of
the Cross Community
At the dumpsite of Chiclayo, is a community called Hope of the
Cross. There is severe poverty and hunger in the community. At
night, it becomes a very unsafe place filled with violence and
drug activity. It is not a good place to raise a family, yet
many women and children live there because they have no other
place to go. The needs are very great and the resources are
limited. Six local pastors have come together to minister to
the needs of the community. Through God’s grace, we have an
open door for ministry to the community. You can be part of
this ministry at Hope of the Cross. We need funds to buy food.
You can help by sending a donation for ministry to this
community where God has opened wide a door. Let’s go through
that open door while it is open.
During our time in Chiclayo,
solid relationships were begun with key Christian leaders that
will be invaluable in the days to come as God continues the work
in Peru. Our plans are to return to Chiclayo in February 2007.
That is only five months from now. We need to build up a fund
for the purchase of large quantities of rice. When we provided
10,000 kilos of rice, it was so exciting to see the gratefulness
of those receiving it. At the same time it broke our hearts
that many received no rice at all.
If the Lord impresses
you to be a Chiclayo Missions Sponsor…
The cost of the trip in February will be considerable for
airfare, lodging and food plus some seed money for those who
assist us. Consider sending a special donation or committing to
a monthly donation of $25 or more as a Chiclayo Missions
Sponsor.
The fastest and easiest way to
make a donation is to use a credit card and PayPal. Go to
www.fullnessonline.org/donate.htm
and follow the SIMPLE instructions.
If you prefer, you may send a
check by mail. Make it to "FCM" and send it to Fullness in
Christ Ministries, Inc, PO Box 136117, Fort Worth, TX 76136.
God bless you,
Ras and Bev Robinson and Kathy Bohlin
